At a glance

The recoverable portfolio inside the Full Spectrum Impact Fund. LFIF deploys recoverable grants, non-extractive loans and mission-aligned equity to organizations that came through the Liberated Futures grant portfolio and demonstrated they can put flexible capital to work. Capital deployed here is designed to come back and be redeployed — a revolving fund operating inside a philanthropic vehicle.

The thesis

Why this fund exists.

A grant portfolio proves a thesis. It does not prove that the organizations inside it can carry capital that has to come back. LFIF exists because that second question got answered: across the Liberated Futures loan cohort, non-extractive lending performed at 95–100% repayment — organizations are creditworthy when the terms match their realities.

So LFIF takes the organizations that demonstrated that capacity and gives them the instrument their capital plan actually calls for, rather than the one philanthropy defaults to. Capital that returns is redeployed into the next cohort instead of being re-raised.

How this fund deploys

The instruments, and what each one is for.

Matching the instrument to the stage is the whole discipline. A cooperative buying its building and a first-time manager raising an anchor commitment need different money, on different terms, with different definitions of return.

01

Recoverable grants

A grant with an expectation of return and no legal obligation. If the organization generates surplus, capital flows back into the fund. If circumstances make return impossible, the grant stands. The most patient instrument we list.

02

Loans

Below-market and non-extractive, with terms built around the borrower's cash flow. No punitive covenants, and no collateral requirement that would put a community asset at risk. Interest reflects the cost of capital, not a margin.

03

Equity

Mission-aligned equity and equity-like instruments in cooperatives, community enterprises and social ventures — structured to preserve community ownership and governance. No extractive liquidation preferences, no control provisions that override community decision-making.

Two ways in, depending on how ready you are.

If you know where you want capital to land, press the button on that fund and your DAF provider takes it from there. If you would rather spread it, build an allocation across several funds and send the whole thing at once.

    Regulatory disclosure

DAF Impact lists pooled charitable funds and routes contributions to them; it is not itself a sponsoring organization, a broker, or an investment adviser, and nothing on this site is an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy a security. Every contribution is a grant recommendation made from your own donor-advised fund or foundation to the listed fund's sponsoring entity, and is irrevocable once that sponsor accepts it. Each listed fund is governed by its own sponsor, whose charitable-purpose intent review, due diligence and final administrative verification determine whether and how capital is deployed. Recoverable instruments carry a genuine risk of non-return; capital that does return remains charitable and is redeployed, never distributed to contributors. Adding a fund to an allocation, or submitting an interest profile, does not create a binding asset-transfer contract or any guarantee of return.
